Due to popular culture people credit Nostradamus with having made incredible and accurate predictions about the near and far future. Really all he did was put together some works about end time prophecies. He wasn’t and never actually admitted to being a prophet.Notwithstanding, allow me to continue with the theme of the power of believing. Nostradamus is an example of how powerful believing can be. People can read about the prophecies, relate them to particular events and thus believe that they are true. I don’t want to enter the debate about whether they are actually true or not. Rather, I want to suggest to you that there is enormous potential to change lives with the power of believing.
We have the opportunity to be modern day Nostradamuses, not in the sense of predicting far away future world events but by predicting the success of individuals in your family and friends by saying very specific and positively encouraging words to them about their future.
Alfred has a 16 year old brother Leo, he knows him well, his dreams and his hopes. Alfred knows also that Leo has talents but he hasn’t realised them properly yet. Alfred has seen the high standard of his art work at school and he’s seen how good he was making model planes and cars. Leo’s despondent since finishing high school with low grades except in art because he doesn’t know how to find a decent job, hates working at MacDonalds, hates not having a girlfriend and hates having zits all over his face. Poor chap!
What can Alfred say to Leo that will completely transform his life and provide him with a destiny?
Now that I’ve got you all on a cliff-hanger, I’m going to leave you thinking about that one! (Sorry folks! And no that was not what Alfred said to Leo)
Just to give you some small clues though… If you tell a person that one day they will become successful in a particular way they will believe that encouragement and self-fulfil the prophecy. Learn to understand their dreams and aspirations and encourage them by instilling confidence with very specific and positive words about their aspirations.
Some basic facts about Nostradamus:
He was born December 14th 1503 and died of a gout related disease on July 2nd 1566
Most famous for his work ‘Les Propheties’ which it turns out he had in fact plagiarised a lot of his work from numerous sources such as the Bible, the Mirabilis Liber and De Honesta Disciplina. He also produced a series of Almanacs.
He very firmly denied being a prophet or playing one. The title of his book in French is commonly misinterpreted as being ‘the Prophecies of’ rather than ‘the Prophecies’ by M. Michel Nostradamus.
Many modern day biographies about him are a pile of trash that are conspiracist based and have their sources typically in writings of the 17th century that are inaccurate and have statements from unsourced rumours.
Nostradamus lived in the time of the bubonic plague that swept across Europe. It’s quite likely that his first wife and children died of the plague in 1534. He also lived in a time when conviction that the end of the world is imminent was as rife as the plague itself. This was also the time of the Ottoman empire and the Muslim invasions that were going on was seen as the work of the anti-Christ.
Nostradamus was really a very average book writer of his time doing what he believed was right to remind people that these are the end times. He claimed to base his predictions on judicial astrology which at the time was accepted as a mainstream science by the Catholic Church.

2ndly, as just like 2dai's society, we all are rather curious about Life and we that don't already believe in something, are most apt 2 believe in Anything... and do 2 the fact that those of us Anything Believers usually have a connection with either dates, facts of our own recollection, numbers, objects, colors, times of dai and/or times in general of the clock, smells, tastes, names, behaviors, etc. etc. etc... We tend 2 cling on 2 those Predictions of the infamous Nostradamus because he was capable of taking that which makes sense 2 our senses and mixing it with plagiarized emotions of others thoughts which eventually link us together in our own celestial movement.
Therefore, it’s not so much a matter of believing … it’s more of a mystabewilderment of our virgin yet well oiled 6th senses.
Phil ~ I like this post. When I was in high school, we had a civics teacher that showed an in-class film about nostradomus...scared the living lightening out of me...now I just kinda laugh about it. It was definitely over exaggerated I feel. His suggestions were broad and generalized. Great post!

People will justify their opinions with books such as Nostrodamus', or the Bible, or anything else they can use to prove their point. If you notice, they never say ahead of time, oh, we should be careful, Nostrodamus predicted what would happen. It's only used afterwards, to justify what they are saying. I pretty much discounted it years ago. Now, make up a story about Alfred and Leo, that would be fun...... :)
What if he predicted a future that happened to be from a theatre screen in 2006. If the writings of Nostradamus were questionable not even 300 years ago, why should we believe in the bible ...
